Zagreb Food & Wine Journey: Farmer's market - Brunch - Boutique winery

After meet-up you're going straight to Zagreb

big belly - 'Dolac' farmers market. Market visit is social event for locals, not just shopping experience (Mediterranean coffee culture / sip-talk-relax). You'll tour ground floor (dairy, meat and bakery) and open-air part (fruit/vegetables). And have a peak at fish market, plus local hand-crafts section.

Then you would sit in little bistro on the open-air part of Dolac market and enjoy dalmatian fish brunch (aka ‘marenda’). Also you will find out why the fish has to swim three times in Croatia. After tasty Dalmatian brunch, we are going to try ‘štrukli’, continental savoury appetizer. An old Croatian folk song says: “My mother baked štrukli, but she did not tell me about it”. But not to worry, we will tell you all about štrukli (authentic cheese strudel from Zagorje region), how to prepare and how to bake them. And, finally, taste them.

After the brunch, in slow paced walk (circa 10 min), you'll go under the ground into 200 year old wine cellar. This boutique winery is family owned and has cozy atmosphere, so you can relax there and enjoy Croatian wines paired with local food. Wine-tasting is lad by wine expert, who will tell you short (hi)story of wine-making in Croatia.
