You have to validate your pass before you use it and there is no sightseeing pass centre. Instead you have to deal with the Big Bus company who, quite frankly, don't have a clue. We wasted literally hours being sent around DC on the bus because their machines weren't working or they needed a password etc. When we finally got the card we only managed to use 3 out of the 4 that I'd paid for as we ran out of time. The card is good value for money but you have to put up with a lot of rubbish to get what you paid for.
Being that the website wasnt user friendly I needed to call. The customer service rep rose, was not very helpful and emailed me a list of "choices" to choose from. That list was not helpful but I had already paid the money for the 4 choices. The ONLY thing that actually was used was the BigBus Night tour. There were no representative at Union Station where I needed to redeem my vouchers and the Big Bus was only able to redeem the nite tour because that was with Big Bus tours. We ended up having to pay to enter Mt. Vernon (the cruise was not where the list said it was nor was the time correct) the cost of a taxi to get from 600 Water street to 3200 Mt. Vernon Men. Hwy Mt. Vernon, VA. When I tried to redeem my vouchers the receipts printed with Nationals coupon (15% off ticket), Patriot Tour, White House Gifts coupon, and not one of the above was on that list they emailed and not a choice I would have made. I have a dispute pending with our credit card company for all money accept for the nite tour.
Value of Pass is wonderful but cannot download it onto your phone must print. Very difficult to find bus locations.
Informative guide and good buses. The tour takes you through all the major sights in DC. Recommended for solo travelers and familes
