Full-Day Bintan Island Tour from Singapore

1 day
Journée complète
A propos de cette activités
You will be picked up at your Singapore address at 8am to catch the 9am ferry from Singapore at Tanah Merah ferry terminal. The journey will take approximately 50-55 minutes. Bintan is 1 hour behind Singapore. Pick up is also available at the airport, ferry terminals and coach terminals.

Upon your arrival at the Bintan ferry terminal, you will meet our tour guide. Your exciting day begins!

First, we stop at Trikora Beach, at the seaside to visit a traditional fishing community. The fishermen and their families live in kelongs (wooden huts built on stilts that stand in the river). Although most of the kelongs are by the land, there are some that are built further into the river, accessible only by small boat (sampan).

In the past, Bintan Island flourished as a trading port between China and India. Is has a rich history of culture influenced by the Chinese, who built several Buddhist temples in the Tanjung Pinang part of the island. In modern times, the natives mostly follow the Muslim faith.

Satay
is a spicy local snack made of flour and ground up fish meat. The fish meat is as fresh as you can get, as the people fish them up from their backyards and grill them over charcoal on the spot! This delicacy is also found in Singapore and Malaysia. You can get much more bang for your buck here in Bintan.

Have you seen a temple inside a tree? Arriving at Senggarang town, we visit the most famous temple on Bintan Island, the Banyan Tree Temple with more than 200 years of history. It is such named because a Banyan Tree grew around it, and now the entire temple has integrated as part of the tree’s structure. Visitors can step in to see the interior of the temple. As it is still being used by the locals for worship, you will see burning joss sticks.

A way the locals make a living is by selling honey and royal jelly that they tap directly from bee hives that they carry around in pails. If you are lucky enough to encounter one of them peddling their produce on the streets, buy home a couple of bottles to drink with your tea or to use as a natural sweetener in your baking.

Also visit Vihara Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, commonly referred to as the 500 Lohan Temple, is home to 500 life sized sculptures of arahats (perfected ones).

After a long day, take the 5.30pm ferry back to Singapore. Estimated arrival in Singapore is 7.30pm Singapore time. Our friendly driver will meet you back at Tanah Merah ferry terminal in Singapore to escort you safely back to your hotel.
