We met Alessia from Raphael Tour company at Campo Fiori market and started from there in a good adventure of history and palate pleasing visits to gastronomical heavenly locations, Alessia was wonderful, she share a little bit of history with every dish or place we passed by, she was terrific, I would recommend her for any kind of tour, she’s very likable and human. The food we taste was exquisite, the supli and the pizza mama Mia! Thank you Alessia!
A marvellous evening of fascinating history and delicious food suitable for all but the very young. Our guide made huge and successful efforts to accomodate a dietary requirement. No oil, no fat, quite a task in Italy! A must tour!! Paula and family
This might have been our favorite tour of our trip. Great food and informative walking tour. Highly recommend it.
This tour was an apt way to start our 10 nights group tour in Italy with the first 2 nights being in Rome. It was a great choice to utilize our time before we got the check-in to our hotel after a 15 hour long journey. But,the lady guide was superb and made it absolutely worthwhile with a splendid attitude, she introduced us and helped us get generous servings of typically Roman street food and gave a good explanation as well as commentary. We had a had long flight and it was an exceptionally HOT day in Rome , but our guide made it really worth its while. Please can we know the name of the lady ( we forgot !!) as well get a copy of the group photo she took for us which she said would be mailed to us ! Our all American co traveler family we had on this short tour were a fabulous bunch as well :)
Excellent guide with very interesting information and good food. Enjoyed this tour immensely and would highly recommend.
This was another amazing trip booked through Viator on our recent holiday and great value. After the second stop for fresh suppli I was concerned how I was going to keep eating at all the other venues. It was a tough job but I managed it! The choice of places to eat was really interesting and well thought out and brought to life by the guide's expert knowledge of the local area and history too. Compared to the cost of eating out in Rome this trip is an absolute bargain. No complaints of hunger from eldest teenager either, who eats like a horse
Mateo was our tour guide. He was very personable and knowledgeable about Rome. We walked in a part of the city center and the Jewish ghetto, and he shared some great facts and insights about the places we passed. Some of the foods we sampled were a platter of meats and cheeses, roma pizza and margherita pizza, suppli (deep fried rice ball with cheese and tomato sauce), deep fried zucchini flower, and gelato. We also got to try a little beer and wine. For the price of this tour and the amount of food you get, it is an excellent value. We highly recommend this tour!
My wife and I were among a dozen or so people who took this food tour (managed by Raphael Tours) one Friday evening in May. Our guide was Virginia, and she was terrific: easygoing, with a good sense of humor and broadly knowledgeable about both her city and its "fast" food. By the time we were done, we'd tried suppli, learned to keep an eye out for the hundreds of icons of Mary hidden in plain sight all over the city, eaten some fabulous fried artichokes, gotten the story of Giordano Bruno, sipped a little wine, and tasted probably the best gelato either of us has ever tried. There was quite a bit more than that, but I don't want to give too much away and ruin the pleasure of discovering new things. We now have a list of great places to grab a quick bite the next time we're in Rome, which can't come soon enough. The tour took about three hours. The pace was just right, neither brisk nor dawdling.
I would highly recommend doing this tour early on in your visit to Rome. We got a lot of useful information on how to find good restaurants and which to avoid. We also got a good taste of a lot of different foods and learned a lot of interesting things from our guide.
Our guide Claudia was very knowledgeable and friendly, we had 5 types of food tasting and it was a perfect start to our holiday, definitely recommend and enjoy!!
Great way to see interesting part of the city and try new food from local establishments that are local secrets. Our guide Claudia was amazing. So nice and knowledgeable about the city
Absolutely loved this tour. Our guide Mathea (sp) was so engaging and knowledgeable. Best tour in Rome
The tour guide (Claudia) was AWESOME! We got to learn a lot of history combined with great food and especially enough food to make this walking tour experience one of the best I have had in Rome! I recommend this tour 100%!
This food tour was a perfect way to taste different foods and see parts of Rome. The pace was good and we got plenty to eat- pizza, gelato a meat tray, fried artichoke and a cheesy rice ball. There was only 4 of us in the group which made it much more personal. The tour. Really flew by and I highly recommend.
We had so much fun walking through the streets of Rome. I highly suggest you do it too. It is an insider's look at the cool places to eat and see.
Even though temperatures were well below comfortable our walking food tour was warming with a knowledgeable and friendly guide who took us through a culinary delight of Roma. The food and tour exceeded our expectations. Would definitely recommend
We had a nice evening stroll through Campo di Fiore and the Ghetto sampling different foods along the way. Very good and Claudia our guide was very knowledgeable.
OMG !! We had a fabulous time ! First, because my husband, son and myself were the only people on the tour and we had the complete attention of MATTIAS, a FABULOUS tour guide. He took us to at least 6, maybe more, places to try different foods of Rome which were all delicious, and while we were on on way, he stopped and explained so many sights to us as they related to the history of Rome and Italy. It was so much more than a food tour for us. He was patient and answered all our questions and was just a very pleasant and knowledgeable young man..an unforgettable experience all around !
Great tour with a good balance of food and the history of the area, especially Campo de Fiori and the Jewish ghetto. Very good guide, excellent English, easy meeting point. Started with some samples from a vendor in Campo de Fiori, which we could have done on our own anyway, but it got significantly better and more authentic from there. Very good tour and a good value.
I really enjoyed the tour. Good choice of places and food - plenty of them. Our guide Mattia provided interesting facts about the places and food we had - knowledgeable and very nice. Our group was pretty small - only 4 people and it was just perfect.
This tour was great. The different food stops were great. Tour guide was flexible with the food restrictions and preferences The tour guide seems to enjoy herself as well. Loved the history of the Jewish Ghetto. Wish we had more interaction with store/restaurant owners.
Highly recommend this tour. Our guide Claudia, met us at the Campo de Fiori and our tour began with Olive oil, balsamic vinegar and pesto tasting, what a taste sensation. Over the 3 hours we rambled through the streets with Claudia not only talking about the local food and produce, but gave us an historical overview of the places we passed through. All the food and drink sampled was wonderful. Claudia also gave us a helpful tip when choosing ice cream Gelato, which I won't give away, so you will have to take the tour to find out.
