Visit to 2 very different wineries in Duoro Valley along with a river boat ride in a traditional rabelo. Lunch in a local restaurant included a few options of typical Portuguese meals. Knowledgeable guide. Would suggest confirming the guide and vehicle type for pick-up in advance as these were smaller groups/ vans and know who/ what to look for.
We can not recommend this tour enough. Each of the stops along the way were wonderful- Croft port wines were really delicious and the view was phenomenal, the restaurant that we stopped at had some of the best food we had in Portugal, the boat ride was lovely and relaxing, and the last winery was very local and charming. Better yet, our tour guide Patricia went above and beyond for us, taking us on short detours to a great view of the whole valley, picking fresh almonds from a tree for us to try, and generally being attentive and informative throughout our trip. This is a smaller tour company, and you could tell they we’re anxious for us to not only have a wonderful experience on their tour, but for us to enjoy Portugal as a whole. Thanks Patricia!
My partner and I decided to book this tour specifically because it went to Pinhao as I heard how picturesque it was. Our guide Guillermo picked us up from our hotel in the city and we were happy to see it was only 2 other couples in the van - so it's a more personal tour than a normal tour bus. On the trip to the Douro Valley, Guillermo provided us with lots of insight into the area etc and was knowledgeable about the history of Porto and the Douro. He was really great! The two vineyards we went to were excellent. Fantastic location and great wine tastings. The boat trip on the river was a highlight as we were a small group, the boat operator was engaging and knowledgeable of Pinhao as well. Was peaceful and beautiful. The lunch in Pinhao was excellent and was great that everything is included. If you wanted something different to drink, you didn't have to pay extra. All in all, the trip was great - it's beautiful out there and the inclusions are very much worth it! Would definitely recommend this tour as it's great to be able to experience the beauty of the Douro Valley with a small group of people and a great guide!
Our tour guide (Gee for short) was great! Picked us up/dropped off at Airbnb, all tastings, including lunch, were included in the price and we went to beautiful places. The van fits at most 8 people, so that is the max the tour group will ever be. Highly recommend!
A very concise yet encompassing introduction to Douro Valley, with tasting in 2 separate places, lunch and a short boat ride. The landscapes are magnificent. Our guide Tiago was knowledgeable and easy to talk to, and spoke very good English.
The tour was really great. Guillermo was our guide and he really knew the region. The pacing of the tour was good too. It is a bit slower paced but that allowed us to take in the views as we enjoyed the wine and port. My only wish was that the tours at the vineyards had a bit more to see. They were less about the vineyard and the making of the product and more about the tasting.
We were collected from out hotel at 8:10 a.m. and enjoyed a full day touring the Douro Valley experiencing the wines, food and beautiful scenery. The van was comfortable and Tiago was an excellent guide with an in depth knowledge of the area. The small group of 7 people was also a plus. This particular trip had been recommended to us by friends from New Zealand and I would thoroughly endorse that.
We really enjoyed our day out in the Douro Valley. Our guide was on time with our hotel pick up, friendly and happy to answer any questions. On the tour we visited two quintas, had a delightful hour boat tour and a tasty Portuguese lunch.
This is a full day as it is a long drive from Porto, but well worth the time. Comfortaaable transport with our driver/guide fluent in English. He di everything to make our day enjoyable. Go and enjoy the scenery and wine!
