The sites were worth seeing, the guide was knowledgeable and easy to listen to.....the pacing and overall structure was excellent........the bus driver was fantastic.....the hotel was clean, comfortable and modern.....the meals were not gourmet but good....nothing not to like!!!!!
The selection of castles, the organisation of logistics and the English guide were all very good. The hotel where we were accommodated at Tours could have been better in terms of room infrastructure.
Here are the main problems--1.the advertised major chateau of Blois is not even on the tour schedule!!! 2.the advertised sleepover in major city of Tours actually happened on the outskirts of much smaller town, many miles away!Nowhere to walk outside the hotel grounds before/after meal. 3. The advertised paid meals-dinner and lunch were served poorly, late and WITHOUT ANY liquids, even soft drinks, coffee, etc. We had to buy all meal -even non-alcoholic- drinks and spent over 40 on them to wash the mediocre meals down the lunch was also served in non-A/C stuffy room with sweat poring down our fronts and backs instead the drinks down our throats. Otherwise, the Loire Valley is gorgeous, the guide was knowleadgeable and I wish the tour organizers cared a little more about people paying lots of money to see these places
Our 2 day tour comprised part of the first day with one group before we joined another group for the evening and the 2nd day. We struggled to follow the English commentary on the first part due to the accents of the guides, however we were delighted by Roberto the guide for the second part of trip who was both extremely knowledgeable and easy to understand. We would recommend this trip as the sights were fantastic and timing was good allowing enough for lunches etc. and free time.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip to the Loire Valley. After leaving Paris and traveling to the chateaux country, we visited Blois and Amboise before changing to another bus. This new group for the two day tour was smaller and very congenial. Our hotel in Tours was very nice with a delicious breakfast and dinner. Some rain did not dampen our second day with visits to Clos de Luce, Chenonceau, and Chambord. The gardens at Villandry were a special treat! Two days gave us time to really see the Loire area without being rushed- Dominique was an excellent guide. Highly recommend this trip!
The tour was well organized and very interesting. The hotel Mercury was satisfactory. Lunch at Saint-Hubert Hotel was absolutely disapointing.
