My wife and I did this tour last week and we enjoyed our selves. The food and drinks were ranging from good to excellent. This tour is a good way to introduce your self to the Bahamian food and the downtown food scene. I would also recommend you to do it early on your visit to the Bahamas. It could also be useful to know that that the tour does not cover that much of the Nassau history and landmarks. If you want that as well, you could do another tour later on in your Bahamas trip.
Easy to book and reasonably priced. Fairly easy to find meeting point. Captain Ron was pleasant, amusing, easy to understand, and informative. The food left something to be desired. Having Conch at the first stop was fine. It was deep fried and didn’t have too bad a taste. We were then served a traditional Bahamian meal. It too was just edible. Very little flavor. If this is the way Bahamians eat I guess that is the way it is. There were two more stops for Conch. There were Conch sliders at another stop. It was awful, I couldn’t eat more than one bite. My husband, a chef, took a bite, took out the rest of the Conch and ate the bread and lettuce. There was Conch chowder at another stop. I did not eat any after the first bite it was so bad. Also, we were told that our water would be bottled and at this stop it was most definitely not. We watched the server take the water from a tap. We had two little tiny pieces of chocolate at another stop. They were delicious. A piece of white chocolate and a piece of curried dark chocolate. This was surprisingly good. We had a stop at a very dilapidated hotel for a drink. I was given a non-alcoholic drink because I don’t drink. It was tasty. My husband said his alcoholic beverage was good too. The last stop for food was a rum cake store. They make cake there. Everyone was served a tiny piece of a style of rum cake. It was ok. I needed change to tip Captain Ron and they would not break a $20. Captain Ron was able to give me change but a portion of it was Bahamian currency. So we had to be sure to spend it before getting back on the ship. All in all I am happy we booked the tour though because we saw a couple of interesting sites and learned some facts about the Bahamas. They just need to do something about the food. It is supposed to be a food tour after all.
We really had a wonderful time. The food was really good and fun. The locations were really thought threw and we really enjoyed them. If I were to give a word of advice I would advise that the tour guide possibly summarize the historical facts and get to the point quicker. We found the information to be rather long winded and some details were useless because we simply wouldn't retain them. In turn it would leave a little more time for other things. Case in point. We stood in front of a historical house for what felt like 25 minutes and then another for what felt like 15. If we could have gotten the facts and moved on we could have explored, or even had a second to possibly buy something at greycliff, which ended up being our favorite part. We then had to rush threw straw district and missed a lot of that but luckily that's were tour ended. Quality of food was superb. Drinks were superb. Tour guide was really fun and we enjoyed her...but she really just talked to much. We would definitely do this again and we referred the tour to several couples.
Fantastic food and cultural tour. Captain Ron was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of Nassau.
It is nice tour with good food. Would have enjoyed more cocktails and skipping the visit to the rum cake store.
We all loved the guide for the tour! Knowledgeable, fun, all around great! The food was very good and the places we visited were fun and interesting! I would recommend it to everyone!
I did this tour with my family on this past Saturday the 21st, and nobody in my family enjoyed this tour. Being that this is was our 1st time in the Bahamas I had high hopes for this tour because it was rated 5 stars. However, if I would have known that this tour included so many steps I would not have booked this tour for my family because I have members with extremely bad knees and they had a hard time walking and keeping up in all the heat. I feel bad because my family feels like they wasted their money and now they all want refunds. I wanted them to have a good time but nobody had a good time
This was one of our best shore excursions. Not only did we get
