The locations were amazing and Victor was a decent tour guide. But we had signed up and paid for lunch to be included an at 1:45 on the way back to our hotel we were like uh lunch? There had been a mistake at the office so they gave us a 300 pesos refund but it was $42 extra to add lunch and the exchange rate that day was 19.40/1 dollar so our refund should have been 814.80 pesos. I am not sure if that was on purpose but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely confirm at the beginning of your tour what you expect!
From beginning to end. The driver was super nice, courteous and very friendly. The guide was super knowledgeable, respectable and well manered. Will never forget this amazing experience.
Ursula was our outstanding guide, advisor, and friend on this adventure to the pyramids and to the Lady of Guadalupe shrine. What was totally unexpected was the short trip to Parque de las Tres Culturas...it was awesome and eye-opening. The trip to the craft shop was also great...with a touch of history and availability of items for purchase. This craft shop was another highlight. One detraction was the lunch at El Jaguar...food was not warm and it was not typical of the food of Mexico, with the exception of the separate table where quesadillas made to order were very good. The knowledge, experience and customer service of Ursula and the driver was truly outstanding.
Great tour! Definitely would recommend it if you are in the Mexico City area. The tour picked us up and dropped us off directly at our hotel in Mexico City which was very convenient. Seeing the pyramids and having the opportunity to climb to the top of the sun pyramid was definitely the highlight of the tour. I would suggest wearing sneakers or comfortable shoes to climb the pyramid. We didn’t initially buy the lunch with the package but ended up getting it when we got to the restaurant. The food was buffet style and had a good variety. Our tour guide Victor was great and really went above and beyond in every aspect. He was very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited and was very helpful in providing history of the area and recommendations of other places to visit while in Mexico.
Everything about this tour was great! We were picked up at our hotel lobby. The van was roomy and comfortable. We were only four on the tour my daughter and I plus a couple from Dallas. All four of us being Hispanic we did not mind the tour being in Spanish. Our tour guide Miriam was very informative. She began telling us the history of Mexico City and of many buildings and structures right as soon as we were all picked up and on the route to the Basilica of Guadalupe. We made a quick stop at the Plaza of the Three Cultures before heading out to the Basilica. At the Basilica we got to see the 'tilma' of Juan Diego and got to explore the Tepeyac hill and the former Basilicas. Before heading to the pyramids of Teotihuacan we learned about the maguey plant and its use by the natives and had a taste of mezcal and tequila. We then got to learn about the pyramids and their use by the Aztecs even though they were there before the Aztecs came into the region. Miriam had a lot of information and explained the developments archaeologists are making. We got a chance to climb the pyramid of the moon, walk the avenue of the dead, and then climb on the pyramid of the sun. If you get the lunch optional it is well worth it, in my opinion. The ride back into Mexico was smooth although we were all exhausted. Be sure to take comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and watch out as there are many vendors and some, not all, are very pestering.
This tour was amazing!
Sergio our tour guide was amazing! Had so much knowledge and such great attitude, he really loves his job and made the whole tour truly enjoyable!
The Basilica and the pyramids in Teotihuacan are unique and beautiful. The tour was well worth it for our family. The logistics of the trip need to be improved. Because we were staying at a hotel not on the route of the van, we were asked to be at the lobby of another hotel at 9 a.m. sharp. However, the van did not arrive until 10a.m., cutting our tour short. There was a group from Peru and so the driver spoke in Spanish to them. Another guide, who spoke English was in the van and he was assigned to our family. There was a lack of coordination between the two guides at the Basilica: the two groups were separated and it took about 45 min. for the driver to contact our guide and tell him where we needed to find our van to continue our tour. I would recommend some planning and guidelines on the part of the agency to correct the problems. Olivia, Frank, Jack, and Reed
