For as long as she can remember Lucía has always been a very keen cook. Her passion for gastronomy led her to earn a bachelors degree in Mexican cuisine, another in international cuisine, and a Master’s degree in history focused on Mexican culinary history. She now teaches gastronomic history at local universities. When she’s not working, she is most often found in the kitchen, cooking the recipes she learned from her mother and grandmother, and from her husband’s family, who hail from the Yucatan.

A welcoming host, Lucía loves to share Mexican gastronomic history and tell her guests about her memories growing up in the kitchen and her favorite cooking secrets. Lucía lives near San Angel, a residential neighborhood in south Mexico City. Her house is in the traditional style and is designed to receive guests. Join her for a delicious homemade meal and relax in her peaceful garden, a world away from the hustle and bustle of central Mexico City.

If you prefer to just watch her cook, Lucía can offer a cooking demonstration where she will show you how she prepares a few dishes.

Please note that Lucía doesn't host on Sundays. Lucia has a two guest minimum.

Minimum numbers apply. Lucia has a two guest minimum. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.

The cooking lesson with Lucia was a highlight of our trip! Lunch was delicious - were eagerly waiting recipes via email to try at home. Lucia welcomed us into her beautiful home like old friends. She gave us the option of watching or helping. As we worked, she demonstrated and explained steps and techniques. We appreciate that Lucia was well organized: she sent the menu before we arrived considered a food allergy included requested Lime Soup on menu it was delicious. Lucia included many great-tasting unexpected touches: Margaritas from recipe she enjoys and recently received ant eggs tostada vegan mole taco great green salsa delicious guacamole corn cake with rompope sauce. Lucias kitchen was well-designed/laid out. The set-up allowed for us to easily watch, listen, and participate. Looking forward to a return visit.
