The city itself was amazing and I’m glad I visited during my time in Spain. The tour info has me go all the way across the city to meet the bus which was 30 minutes late. Also, the meeting point said my the metro station but it was actually up on the street. Note that you need to look for the guide with a white umbrella. The bus then went to a second pick up spot that was a 10 min walk from my hotel! Once we were on the way, our guide Benny was great. Other than the pick up issues, the tour was very enjoyable.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time in Toledo and much of that is thanks to our amazing guide Rocia. She was absolutely fantastic--a font of historical knowledge and wildly funny. On this trip, we visited all the main monuments as well as the magnificent cathedral. Rocio made us feel like we were back in the time of this ancient town, gave us all the pertinent information and some hilarious anecdotes. Since we selected the full day trip, it gave us ample time to eat, stroll through the town and shop. Since this is a fairly quick trip from Madrid, we did not get back too late and had plenty of time for dinner. Toledo is a tourist spot and in the summer it is hot!
Toledo was ok but we felt it was too much free time for us after the guided tour. The shopping is just trinkets so we just sat around for a couple hours. The real problem was the bus back to Madrid. It must have been 100 degrees in there people were almost passing out from heat. The air conditioning barely worked at all. I was pouring water on my head to stay cool. It was a horrible experience that everyone on the bus felt very uncomfortable for the hour ride. They need to find a more reliable bus company that .doesn't torture custoners. buyer bewsre Looking back it ruined our whole experience.
Excellent tour, enough time and Toledo has escalators up the mountain to the beginning of the city, so walking tour is easy
Our tour guide Lydia was friendly, informative and most helpful. We enjoyed the walk through the Old City. 3 monuments including a synagogue was shown. The icing on the cake was the stupendous Toledo Cathedral. Words are insufficient to describe this unusually shaped highly ornate building. We had sufficient free time to see to two more buildings as well. Climbing the tower of the Iglesia de San Ildefonso enabled us to obtain some amazing views. Pickups and drops went smoothly. All considered it was a satisfying day.
Originally scheduled a tour for Toledo w/ 7 monuments and cathedral access but was cancelled and offered tour for Toledo and Segovia. Long day but both cities very interesting, with lots of history. Would have liked more time to walk around on our own and would have liked a guide on the bus itself to give us more background information and what to expect about the places we were going and countryside we were traveling through. Also ended up running late due to a few people being very late for the bus. (About 30 min). I think there should be a clearer policy about how long a tour should wait.
It was an excellent trip with Lydia. Well organized and excellent arrangements. Will recommend this to all.
Toledo is an incredible place. Time stopped there and you can rally feel like walking in the XVI century. All the landmarks are beautiful and well preserved. The tour is good, we had the 7 monuments with the cathedral upgrade and what you get is a bracelet that allows you to visit several sites. Be aware that you do 3 or 4 guided visits, and the rest you can do on your own during your free time in the afternoon. The tour has some room for improvement though. Our guide was Barbara and she is knowledgeable, fun, and you can see her effort during the trip, however she does the tour in English and Spanish simultaneously and sometimes she switches between languages before completing a sentence, so it may be hard to follow along. Also, it would be great if this tour used the headset devices to hear the descriptions and explanations of the places as many other tours do. At the end of the tour there was some sort of issue with the transportation back to Madrid so a few of us were sent back in a private van so the bigger buses could take other tour passengers. Barbara looked very puzzled about this and apologized many times although it was really not a problem for us, we actually arrived earlier than the bigger group and traveled more confortable in the smaller van. It does look like this is a newer or smaller company which is still getting their organization together. All in all, we enjoyed the day and the format of the tour, and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to visit this beautiful city.
