Good fun and interesting to learn about how its made.
This tour was filled with knowledge and fun!
I took my 10 year old daughter and her 13 year old friend to this 2 hour workshop. We started with a short lecture including pictures about the cacao tree, where it grows in Peru and how the beans are harvested and processed. It was fun for us to learn how we could make a chocolate bar straight from the cacao bean. We were able to choose dark, white or milk chocolate to work with. We also made delicious chocolate drinks: the matador and the conquistador. The instructor was a young guy from Cusco who was very pleasant and helpful. We each made 2 chocolate bars and took them back to the hotel to eat. If you love chocolate this is a delicious and educational experience.
This was a great activity for my first free afternoon in Lima. The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable about the chocolate process, and made it fun for everyone. Our small class size only 5 people made it easy to interact with the instructor and each other, for a more personal experience. I had no idea that grinding the beans into a paste would take so much work! : We made two drinks to try as a group, and then each person got to use molds to make their very own take-home chocolate either milk or dark chocolate with a wide variety of toppings. Definitely recommended if you're looking for something other than a general walking tour of Lima.
