The basilica and the Monastery are located in the city of Jasna Góra and locate the holy relic of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa. High on the mountain top, the monastery is the most famous shrine to the Virgin Mary in Poland and home to the Black Madonna painting, thought to have been painted by the apostle, st. Luke the Evangelist, on a tabletop built by Jesus. The Black Madonna, depicting the Mother of God with the Christ Child, is believed to have miraculous powers to those who visit her.
It is also possible to reserve a private guided tour (on request).
