When your cruise ship docks in Edinburgh, enjoy this hop-on hop-off shore excursion to see the best sights of the city. The capital of Scotland since the 15th century, Edinburgh sits on seven hills, creating a dramatic skyline. One of the highlights of your City Sightseeing hop-on hop-off tour is Edinburgh Castle, which sits on top of one of these hills and marks the starting point of the historic Royal Mile, the main tourist street in Edinburgh’s Old Town. The Mile concludes at the bottom of the hill at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where the British Royal Family resides when they are in Scotland.

Hop off at family friendly attractions like Our Dynamic Earth, a popular science center where you and your kids can learn all about Earth and its features. Other attractions and landmarks that are accessible from the hop-on hop-off tour include the Royal Scottish Academy, the National Gallery, St John's Church and the Caledonian Hotel.

You can hop on and off the open-top, double-decker buses as many times as you like at any of the 14 stops; the entire route takes approximately 75 minutes.

Important cruise passenger info: Cruise guests arriving into Leith can collect a shuttle bus from the terminal to Waterloo Place, this is approximately a 6 minute walk from tour stop 1. Cruise guests arriving into South Queensferry (Hounds Point) can collect a shuttle bus from the terminal to Charlotte Square, this is approximately a 5 minute walk from tour stop 2. Cruise guests arriving into Newhaven will be able to pick up a local bus into central Edinburgh and will take approximately 30 minutes.
