The whole tour was very interesting. Richard was punctual and extremely friendly to guide us throughout the day.The Aquila Reserve has a beautiful geography and healthy animals in a natural environment. The lunch very enjoyable. We highlight the excellent attention and human quality of our guide Richard who inclusive solved personal problems with dedication and generosity. We recommend always asking about Richard in "Born in Africa". Gisela y Oscar (Uruguay)
This is a tricky trip to review for me as I have been to Kenya. Nothing can compare to that. So, if you've been to the Masai Mara, skip this trip. If you haven't, then this is the closest you'll get to a safari experience but the animals are really not wild, they are fed and the Rangers seem to know exactly where they are! Too much time spent stopping the vehicle and talking about the animals, this could be done whilst still driving (cuts into the actual safari time). There is a buffet included in the admission price, which you pay on arrival. This is not included in the price of the trip. I would have bought lunch in my backpack to save money here. The drive is a couple of hours out of Cape town but was made vetu6 enjoyable with our driver Melodee. She pointed out all the vineyards etc along the way and chatted about local history. Like I said, don't do this trip if you've been to Kenya! You'll be annoyed that you wafted a day when South Africa has so much to offer.
Dave has been an excellent tour director - he is very knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. I would definitely recommend him for any private tour.
Great trip Dave our guide was excellent and show up a lot of local sights on the way We had some great conversations and he even dropped us off at the airport so we could catch our flight.the safari was great wonder lunch and excellent ranger/ guide saw a lot of great animals up close and personal
This was a great tour! Dave our driver was excellent, friendly and made the day so rememorable! I really liked that we had a private driver who drove safely and knew exactly where to go and where to stop for excellent pictures and to see baboons! He even bought us some billtong and chocolate on the way back. The drive was not bad and the scenery was absolutely incredible! We arrived at Aquila, were greeted with sparkling wine, then paid for our tickets which included a great buffet launch where there was amazing chocolate mousse extra bonus! we then went on about a 2 and a half our game drive. The vehicle is open air and the drivers try to make it as comfortable as possible, but it is a bumpy ride. It was fun though and we were lucky enough to see 4 or the big 5! Elephants, rhino, lions, and even the Buffalo was spotted when they hadnt seen it in the previous 3 months! They stop for drinks in the middle as well. On the return we were able to shop in the gift shop before heading back to Cape Town. The drive with the evening sunset was even better than coming! Dave also stopped for us on the way back so we could use the restroom. As we got closer, Dave offered to drop us off in Camps Bay since the sunset was going to perfect. We took him up on it and were so glad we did! He dropped us right on the beach strip with plenty of restaurants to choose from! It was a great day thanks to Dave and perfect weather! Dave even called us later in the evening to make sure we got home ok from Camps Bay. I would definitely recommend this tour and it is worth paying for Dave as a private, safe driver. Thanks so much Dave! I hope we can come back soon!
If you are going to be in Africa, you simply must do a safari. To see these majestic animals roam wild is truly breathtaking. The Aquila animal reserve is very professionally run, and provides a wonderful buffet lunch upon arrival. There is also a swimming pool on site that visitors are welcome to use. The tour guides do a good job of getting you right next to rhinos, zebras, wildebeests, and elephants. You will also catch glimpses of giraffes, hippos, lions, and buffalo. What really makes this particular tour wonderful is the private driver Dave. He is very knowledgeable and pleasant. Dave made the trip to and from the game reserve as enjoyable as the safari itself. Dave makes a confirmation call the evening before your tour to make sure any questions are answered, and that you are ready for your trip. I just can't say enough about Dave. He really took all of the stress out of this tour, and acts more as a personal concierge then just a driver. I highly recommend!
Tour was good and what made it more enjoyable and exciting was our tour guide Dave, he was so good. He made the 21/2 hour drive look much less. If anyone wants a good tour guide for the Aquila safari trip ask for Dave you will not regret doing this tour. Dave Coxford was used by Viator and am so happy they did, his local company Born in Africa. I would recommend Dave and whenever I return to Cape Town I will definitely call for Dave.
Great experience! You will see all the animals in short distance except the lions naturally. Our guide, Dave, was of big help. He knows a lot about Cape Town and is highly recommended. Dr Michael and Shima
