A propos de cette activités
The Cape Agulhas tour starts with a pick up from your accommodation and continues with a drive on Sir Lowry’s pass, in close proximity with the Hottentots Holland moving on to the Overberg which provides outstanding views of the Cape Flats and False Bay the perfect stop for an opportunity to take a picture to add some memory to your Cape Agulhas tour.
You will proceed with the Cape Agulhas tour enjoying views of places such as the Steenbras Dam, primarily a water source for Cape Town. This dam boasts 1200 hectares of pine plantations around the dam which has drawn a diverse number of bird species to the area. As you leave the dam the Cape Agulhas tour further continues for the town of Caledon, driving through the green, gold and brown citrus orchards of the Overberg. Caledon is the capital of the Overberg with attractions such as the Caledon museum and Caledon Wild Flower Garden and Reserve.
You will further drive on to Bredasdorp, South Africa’s first town to be called a “dorp”. This town offers an opportunity to visit the Shipwreck museum as part of the Cape Agulhas tour. The Shipwreck museum is home to striking visual displays and a fascinating collection of shipwreck artifacts and a treasure house of figureheads and lifeboats, porcelain, cannons, anchors, old bottles and coins from a number of European countries.
The Cape Agulhas has so much more to offer as you make our way to Arniston, this area is known as the wheat belt of South Africa. Catch a glimpse of the small fishing area Kassiesbaai and visit the Waenshuiskrans Cave, a big cavern in the cliffs a kilometre from the village. After exploring Arniston, you will head south on the Cape Agulhas tour to Struisbaai, a beautiful holiday resort and paradise with the longest unbroken white beach sand in South Africa. You will then continue the Cape Agulhas tour by heading to the pinnacle of the tour entering Cape Agulhas to see the second oldest working lighthouse. A kilometre to the west of the lighthouse lays the southernmost tip of the African continent and the official division line between the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean.
With the conclusion of the Cape Agulhas sighting the tour further continues to Hermanus, originally a fishing town Hermanus is famous for whale watching (seasonal July to November) and is also known as the whale capital in the world, with the reputation of the world’s best land-base whale watching site. Hermanus further allows us to explore its 12km of cliffs walk and an opportunity to spot the whales from the cliffs during whale season.
From Hermanus, the Cape Agulhas tour proceeds with scenic Clarence drive for a stopover at Betty’s Bay for a moment with the African Penguins at Stoney Point Nature Reserve before heading back to Cape Town to drop you safe and happily at your accommodation with in Cape Town City Bowl.
