I got myself onto this hutong food walking tour initially to fill my day, as I was transiting elsewhere in Asia. This was my very first day ever in Beijing and I did not regret taking the tour. Lucy was my guide, she was spot on time and very friendly, I felt like meeting an old university friend or an ex-colleague. Lucy took me in areas at walking distance from Wangfujing. To start with, Lucy gave me a much-needed introduction to the hutongs and some aspect of Beijing which came very handing later. During the tour, Lucy picked a variety of places which then provided a large sample of Chinese food. Then, been a foodie person it was heaven on earth as everything I tried was delicious. So, if you're a food lover and like to try different things, then I would recommend this tour to give you an idea of what to expect.
Our tour guide was Linda, she was absolutely a wonderful lady, explained so well about the food and culture of China. The variety of food to try out is extensive, therefore please make sure you have enough space in your belly
Jimmy, our tour guide, was great - really made the whole tour. He was very knowledgeable and very easy to get along with. The food stops were memorable and a lot of it was very tasty! The whole thing definitely made our time in Beijing much more special. Thanks Jimmy!
I had a great time with Becky on my Beijing Food Tour. She picked me up at my hotel and took me to a variety of restaurants and stalls where the lokals eat. She catered the choice of dishes to my preferences while daring me a few times and explained everything along the way. I even got a little lesson on chinese history and writing. I recommend this tour if you want to get a good overview of what to order and eat in Beijing. I did it on my first day and went back to a few places during the remainder of my stay.
Cactus was a wonderful tour guide. She was knowledgeable, spoke very good english, friendly, and fun. The tour lasted about 4 hours. It consisted of trying various types of chinese delicacies. We definitely were full by the end of the tour. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing.
Food sampling was great. It really gave me a sense of the local food and what I liked. Miko was an excellent and patient guide, very knowledgeable. It was a lot of food and fun. I would definitely recommend this tour. Cedric C.
