Après avoir quitté Auckland, vous voyagerez vers le sud dans les Bombay Hills, profiterez de vues panoramiques sur la région de Waikato et traversez les pittoresques Hauraki Plains jusqu’à Matamata, qui abrite le plateau de tournage de Hobbiton.

Vous pourrez ensuite profiter d’un voyage enrichissant unique en son genre en explorant le plateau de tournage lors de cette excursion de 2 heures dans les mains expertes de votre guide. L’excursion sur le plateau de tournage de Hobbiton a lieu dans l’endroit d’origine où Hobbiton a été créé pour le tournage des films Le Seigneur des Anneaux et Le Hobbit. L’excursion propose une expérience intéressante et amusante qui intègre le plateau de tournage de ces célèbres films et l’aperçu de la vie rurale.

Commencez l’excursion dans une ferme ovine pittoresque de 505 hectares avec une vue imprenable sur les montagnes Kaimai. Votre guide vous conduira ensuite sur le site de 5 hectares en vous parlant de faits fascinants sur la création du plateau de tournage. Vous pourrez, entre autres, visiter les trous de Hobbit, l’auberge du dragon vert, le moulin et découvrir comment ces magnifiques terres de la région du Waikato sont devenues le Comté de la Terre du Milieu. Prenez une boisson spéciale à l’auberge du dragon vert à la fin de votre excursion

Ensuite, profitez d’un déjeuner comptoir de style « kiwi » au « Shire’s Rest » et partagez quelques histoires sur Hobbiton lors d’interactions avec vos compagnons de voyage.

Rendez-vous ensuite dans les fascinantes grottes de Waitomo. Laissez-vous surprendre par les milliers de vers luisants magiques en glissant silencieusement sur votre bateau dans les célèbres grottes de Waitomo. Lors de cette excursion de 45 minutes, votre guide pourra être un descendant du chef maori et premier explorateur des grottes et pourra vous parler de l’histoire remarquable de la région. Promenez-vous dans la majestueuse réserve de Cathedral Cove, célèbre pour son acoustique

Votre voyage de retour vers Auckland vous conduira dans la plus belle partie de campagne de Nouvelle-Zélande avant de se diriger vers le nord en direction du majestueux fleuve Waikato, le plus long fleuve de Nouvelle-Zélande, que nous longerons une partie du trajet de retour vers Auckland. Vous passerez par Ngaruawahia, berceau du roi maori ; Taoupiri et son cimetière maori sacré.

Pour terminer la journée, vous serez ramené à votre hôtel dans l’Auckland CBD.

Had a tour with another company and they cancelled about 12 hours before. Luckily I got this one and they were able to accommodate me, including pickup. Hobbiton was super fun but the glow worms are the highlight. Overall really great tour and I was very happy.

It was one of those must-do things while we were in New Zealand. A very special tour that was done well even if it was an early morning. The glow-worm caves were the icing on top and with it being lamb season everything was that much more adorable and special. Thank you so much!!

Hobbiton set so unreal amazing. Drive to Waitomo caves was breath taking. Rolling hills. Sheeps. Cows. Our driver Mike was great. He was on time throughout the day kept everything on schedule.

Going to Hobbiton was the highlight of the trip so far! Anyone who is a fan should go. Waitomo caves is short but also pretty amazing to see. It was a great tour and having Mike as our tour operator really made the difference. He’s wonderful to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area. Everything about our tour with him was a delight! If you’re looking into this tour, I’d definitely recommend taking it.

First off, Nick was the best tour guide ever. He made ever one comfortable and drove us safely to each place. His knowledge of New Zealand is incredible. Hobbiton is an magical place even if you’re not a fan of LoTR. The glow worm caves are a bucket list item, incredible. This is the way to do visit these places, you learn so much. Amazing!

My girlfriend and I went on this tour on June 9, 2019. Mike, our driver and tour guide, was warm and friendly. He accommodated us and made sure that we were all safe and comfortable. He was also very engaging during the tour, which made it more memorable as well. He took the time to explain the townships and scenic views when we were on our way to our destinations. Hobbiton and the Waitomo Glowworm Caves were beautiful. I will definitely recommend this particular tour to my friends and family.

SO happy with this tour! First off, we had the most aMAZing tour guide, Tyler. He was full of information while riding in the van, and also knew when to have some quiet time to squeeze in a nap(except for me, I was too excited!!). He also made a couple extra stops along the way to really show us more of NZ's awesomeness, yeah! We learned so much about Auckland/NZ AND by the end, he gave us the best recommendations for other places to check out, which we did-Elliott Stables and the Fish Market--excellent food and experience!! Thanks Tyler! :) Hobbiton was everything I've been waiting for-gorgeous country, another excellent tour guide, SO many pictures taken. We all had a perfect time there. Glowworm Caves were also essential to see. Not disappointed at all. I would 100% recommend this tour for anyone short on time in Auckland and wanting to squeeze in a bunch in one day. Yes, there is driving involved, but during that, it's a great time to either rest in between tours, learn about NZ, or just revel in its beautiful country :)

The tour of Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves was excellent. Alex, our driver and guide picked us up and gave us all the key information about both locations (which have separate tours and tour guides) - note that once you reach Hobbiton you will form part of a larger group of 40-50 which is just how the tours at Hobbiton work. The included lunch provided lots of choice in the Hobbiton cafe with a few yummy vegetarian/vegan options. Similarly, the tour of Waitomo is run by the Māori owners and was also very good. Alex drove us through many different towns /cities and gave us interesting facts /key information about all of them. He was very informative, very funny and provided us with lots of information; he had an answer for all our questions about NZ, and looked up the answers he didn’t have! We stopped off for ice cream on the way back. Overall, this was an A+ tour, worth every second of lost sleep to be at Hobbiton early in the morning for the first tour. With his stops and commentary, it never felt like we were stuck in the car driving around the country.

Alex and Tyler were fun to spend the day with as we explored Hobbiton in the rain and the glowworms in the dark Waitomo Caves! We got hooked on hokey pokey ice cream too! Great day trip from Auckland.

The Hobbiton movie set is a must see for Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fans. It’s primarily a exterior set, but the drive from downtown Auckland to see the set and surrounding areas was beautful. Our driver was very entertaining and informative. This tour was limited in size, so there were only 11 of on the tour van, which made it a more personal experience. The glowworm caves don’t sound like much, but were an awesome natural phenomenon that you are not likely to experience anywhere else in the world.
